(a) Acid + Alkali ➝ Salt + Water

(b) Sulphuric acid + Sodium hydroxide ➝ Sodium sulphate + Water


Question 2:
Explain how toothpaste works in cleaning teeth and preventing dental caries.

Answer:
The reaction of bacteria and the food residue on the tooth produces acid that corrodes the tooth and causes dental caries. Toothpaste which is alkaline can neutralise this acid and prevent dental caries.


Question 3:
Is hair conditioner important? Explain your answer.

Answer:
Yes. Hair conditioner which is acidic can neutralise the residue of shampoo on hair which is alkaline. This makes the hair look soft and shiny.
